P2P · offer mechanics
Why P2P offer prices change
A P2P offer price belongs to one advertiser, asset, fiat currency, payment method, amount range and moment in time. It can change when any of those conditions change. It is not a permanent market quote or a promise that another buyer can use the same terms.
An advertisement has its own terms
The price is linked to a specific asset, payment method, range, timing and advertiser conditions. These can be edited, paused or replaced.
Payment routes affect the quote
Different payment methods can carry different settlement, reversal, verification and operational conditions. Those differences can influence an advertiser's terms.
Reference data is not live P2P inventory
MyCoinWay's P2P Price Index provides public spot and FX reference context. It does not show merchant advertisements, order books, payment-method liquidity or executable offers.
Why one P2P price is not universal
P2P marketplaces allow advertisers to set terms for a particular order. The displayed price may be linked to a local currency, payment method, order range, account requirements and the advertiser's own operational choices. A change to any of these can change or remove the offer.
A user may also see different terms because the market has moved or because another advertiser serves a different payment route. Comparing only the headline number leaves out the conditions that determine whether an order is suitable or available.
Read the whole order, not only the price
Before opening an order, check the asset, fiat currency, payment method, minimum and maximum amount, time limit and written conditions. Follow platform rules on account-name matching and keep communication and evidence inside the official order flow.
Do not assume a price found earlier will remain available or that an order can be split, combined or paid through another method. The current advertisement and platform rules are the relevant source of truth.
Use reference prices in their proper role
A public spot and FX reference can help place a displayed P2P quote in context. It cannot establish merchant balance, actual settlement speed, payment-method order depth or whether a counterparty will honour a particular amount.
For safety, assess the current order and counterparty through the marketplace. Do not move a trade off-platform because a price changes, and do not release crypto based on screenshots or a message outside the order chat.
Before you act
- Review the current advertisement, not a saved price.
- Match asset, fiat currency, payment method and amount range.
- Read platform rules and keep evidence in the order flow.
- Use reference pricing only as context, not as an executable offer.
